Ambassadors

Welcome to the Ambassador Web page.

Our Mission/Purpose Statement

The JSCC Student Ambassador Organization involves an honorary and distinctive group of students that are selected by a committee to participate in activities and events for the college and the community. Each Ambassador will serve as hosts and hostesses during these events. The student Ambassadors provide an invaluable service to the college by serving as liaisons between the college, students and the community. While serving the Ambassador’s allegiance will be to serve the college and represent our institution at all times.

Student Ambassadors will receive the special opportunity to participate and to grow in a personal and educational capacity.

Description of Organization

The Ambassadors are chosen to represent and often times coordinate college and community special events. There are many responsibilities required from each Ambassador. The Ambassadors also serve as the “voice of the school.” The responsibilities of the Ambassador Advisors are to teach and prepare the students of this Organization the necessary leadership skills through special retreats, training seminars, conferences, and classes to become strong leaders to their peers.

Application Process

Applicants will be chosen by a selection committee based on their application, interview, GPA, leadership skills, interest in student involvement and future goals.
What you need to know before applying - Ambassador Required Duties

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA or better each semester
  • Abide by the JSCC Ambassador Demerit System and Code of Conduct
  •  Be considered a full time student (12 credit hours per semester excluding the summer term)
  •  Host various college events – this includes President Receptions, Graduation Ceremonies, Honors Convocation and any other event assigned by the Advisor
ALL events assigned by the Advisor are MANDATORY for you to attend
  • Work a minimum of 5 hours per week in a designated area on campus – assigned by the Ambassador Advisor
  • Help coordinate ALL New Student Orientations – this includes greeting guests, presenting a PowerPoint presentation and performing a skit
  • Conduct campus tours
  • Attend Leadership Conferences and Seminars – some may include traveling out of state
  • Attend an annual Ambassador Retreat (location TBD each year)
  • Help coordinate and participate in fundraising events
  • Must be willing to travel to various Jefferson State Campuses
  • Be available for daytime, evening and weekend events
  • Be involved with other student organizations and events
Scholarship Opportunity

Through the selection process 18 chosen Ambassadors will receive a semester by semester scholarship for tuition and fees up to 2 years. In order to maintain this scholarship, Ambassadors must abide the Ambassador Code of Conduct rules and regulations, the Demerit System, and stay in good standing with the college and community at all times. Each Ambassador must maintain a GPA of 3.0. Scholarship recipients shall enroll full-time at Jefferson State each semester and complete a total of 24 semester hours for the fall and spring semesters. Violations of previous acts can result in immediate dismissal of participation and scholarship award. Scholarship paperwork will not be submitted by the Advisors for the next semester until all grades are posted (for classes completed) and GPA’s are confirmed.

All current Ambassadors must reapply each year and be selected again before the scholarship will be awarded for the second year. Current Ambassadors will need to submit in another application and go through the interview and selection process again. The scholarship is not automatically renewed for the second year.

Volunteer Ambassador(s)

In some cases there may be what we call a “volunteer Ambassador” which simply means a student can participate and follow all rules as other Ambassadors but may not receive the scholarship award. This is by the student’s choice only. If a scholarship should become available the volunteer Ambassador must meet all of the qualifications as other Ambassadors and go through the interview and selection process.

Thank you for your interest in our organization and we look forward to working with you in the future.
