Chapter 21 Outline and Assignment

Outlines passed out in class.  Ask me if you need one.

Assignment:  In what ways might the developments described in this chapter be considered a response to the French Revolution and Industrial Revolution discussed in the previous two chapters?  Your essay should deal with the following material:  Artwork of the Congress of Vienna (pp. 589-590); The Voice of Conservatism: Metternich of Austria (p. 378); University Students & German Unity (p. 597); The Voice of Liberalism: John Stuart Mill on Liberty (p. 383); Revolutionary artwork (pp. 603 & 608); The Voice of Italian Nationalism: Giuseppe Mazzini & Young Italy (p. 610); Romantic artwork (pp. 615 & 616).  You need to weave together these pieces of evidence as you formulate your understanding of this period.  Use the book where needed to aid your understanding of the evidence.
