In chapter 23 we talked about how Europe was generally doing better.  Higher living standards accompanied a growing population that instilled in Europeans a spirit of confidence.  But, this level of confidence will result in nations that are more competitive with each other resulting in imperialist ambitions.  Discuss the connection between nationalism and imperialism using the appropriate documentary evidence.
