Course Description:
This course is an introduction to computers
that reviews computer hardware and software concepts such as equipment,
operations, communications, programming, and their past, present, and
future impact on society. Topics include computer hardware,
various types of computer software, communication technologies, program
development and using computers to execute software packages and/or to
write simple programs. Upon completion, students should be able to
describe and use the major components of selected computer software and
hardware.

course being able to be repeated for credit for each different topic
being covered. Emphasis is placed on the purpose capabilities and
utilization of each package, language or program. Upon completion,

covered. Microsoft Access® is offered Fall
and Spring.

CIS 289 Computer Problem
Determination
Prerequisite: CIS 156 or equivalent

Course Description:
This course is an introduction to the problem determination on
microcomputers. It uses software diagnostic tools and simple
hardware test equipment to identify and repair typical problems of
microcomputers. Upon completion, the student will be able to
demonstrate knowledge of the topics through the completion of
programming projects and appropriate tests. (Offered Fall, Spring).
