General Instructions for the http://scsite.com/selabs Student Edition Labs:

 

Important Note: Be sure to print your Apply quiz results before exiting a tutorial. See step 12 below.

1.     If you have not already booted up the computer, see Getting started in the lab directions from the General Information Concerning Lab Assignments and the Campus Computer Labs handout.

2.     Double-click the Internet Explorer icon on the computer’s desktop. If the Internet Explorer icon is not on the desktop, click Start and choose Internet Explorer from the All Programs menu.

3.     After Internet Explorer loads, enter http://scsite.com/selabs in the Address box.

4.     After the Student Edition Labs page loads, click on the name of the lab tutorial that you have been assigned. Each tutorial will contain several topics.

For each topic within a lab tutorial:

5.     Read the Prepare page of the current topic. You can put your mouse pointer on the terms that appear in blue to see their definitions.

6.     Click the Observe button. In Observe mode, use the Play button to advance the pages and watch all of the demonstrations for the current topic. The text in the lower left corner describes the actions on the screen. You can use the scroll bar in that area or the up and down arrow keys to move through the text so that you can read all of it within the small text area in which it appears.

7.     After you have completed all of the Observe demonstrations for the current topic, click the Practice button and follow the step instructions that appear on the screen.

8.     After you complete the Practice, click the Apply button to take the quiz on the current topic.

9.     Answer all of the questions on that topic, and then click Print to view your results. Each time your run a tutorial, the first time you click Print, you will need to enter your name and your class time. For example, if your name is Tom Jones and you are in the 8 AM – 9:15 AM class, enter Tom Jones  8 AM for your name.

10. If you did not get 100% on this topic, click the Apply button again and take the quiz again until you do get 100%.

11. Unless you have completed all topics assigned or need to stop at this time, click the flashing yellow arrow to continue to the next topic in this lab or click view all and choose the next topic. For each topic start over with step 5 above.

Printing your results:

12. If you have completed all required topic quizzes or have reached a point at which you need to stop at this time, after viewing the results of your last quiz, click Send to Printer to print your results. Write the assignment number on the top page of your quiz results. If you have trouble printing, you may email the results to yourself and then print the email later and turn that in for the assignment.

Returning to complete a lab tutorial:

13. If you were not able to complete all assigned topics at one time, when you return to the lab tutorial (see steps 1-4 above) click view all and choose the next topic that you need to complete. For each topic start over with step 5 above. Be sure to print the rest of your quiz results. Write the assignment number at the top of the first page of each results print.
