EDUCATION
I received my Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) at
Jefferson State and began my lab career at Medical Center East. After a few
years of being out of school, I went back to school and earned a Bachelor's Degree in
Allied Health from UAB. This degree, plus my years of work experience, made me eligible
to take the ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) exam. I received my
Master's Degree from UAB in Clinical Laboratory Sciences in 2005. I started in September,
2007 at UA in the Doctoral Program for Higher Education Administration! Stay

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
My only teaching experience has been at Jefferson State. I started teaching
lab classes part time in 1997 and eventually lecture classes as well. I was
working full time at Medical Center East (now St. Vincent's East), but began to enjoy teaching
more. So when a full time position became available at Jeff State in 2002, I
was happy to take it.
INTERESTS
My interests are varied. I have tried most everything, including skeet
shooting and skydiving, and am not particularly good at anything. I am trying to
learn to play tennis currently. I prefer to be outside most of
the time and enjoy anything that I can do outdoors. As far as inside activities, I do like to read
mystery/crime novels and I
enjoy movies but hate regular TV for the most part. I am an animal lover and
volunteer at the Pell City Animal Shelter. I have a cat
named Kat (below) and a dog named Paxton (not pictured). Paxton is a 12-year
old, 130 lb, chocolate lab that we inherited and that my 2-year old calls her
"puppy".
FAMILY
As far as immediate family, I have one sister but both of my parents are
deceased.
I got married in March of 2005 and my husband is a plumber. We had a baby
girl in January of 2006 and her name is Cadence. She still does her hands like
she's doing in the picture, only now when she does that she's telling me "not
know" in answer to a question such as "Who smeared cheese on the couch?" The
other picture is of my husband and Cadence at Noccalula Falls.
